Are you ready to go on an adventure with a furry friend? Wayside Waifs Paws Around KC Field Trip Program gives shelter dogs a much-needed break from the kennel and people a chance to make a big difference, have some fun, and create some pawsome content that will help shelter dogs make adopter connections.

These one hour to full day (you choose) outings are all about fresh air, happy paws, and social connection. Whether it’s a leash walk through your neighborhood park, a drive-thru pup cup run, exploring KC landmarks, or just relaxing on a bench, your time together helps a dog de-stress and shine outside the shelter – giving them a better chance to find their future family.

How It Works

1. Book Your Field Trip – Using the button below, take a few minutes to book your appointment, provide us some important details, get some guidelines, and complete our waiver.

2. Our Team Will Get Your Dog Ready – There is always a dog ready for a furtastic outing at Wayside Waifs. Once you have submitted your field trip booking, our team will be working to select and have a dog ready for your scheduled field trip.

3. Pick Up Your Dog and Go on Your Adventure – Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment, we will make a copy of your driver’s license, provide you with a backpack of all the necessary items including a leash, seatbelt, water bowl, guidelines, places you can go, emergency procedures, and more. And then we will connect you with your dog for your field trip.

4. Share The Fun! – Post your photos and/or video using #PawsAroundKC and tagging @WaysideWaifs. Remember, this sharing helps your field trip buddy find an adopter connection.

5. Field Trip Fun Concludes – Whether you explore for an hour or two or choose to go all day (until 4:30 pm), the time you have given is greatly appreciated. Once you are ready to end the field trip, return to Wayside Waifs with your dog and all of the field trip supplies.We will take your dog and ask you to complete a very short feedback form. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us understand the dog’s behavior and the field trip experience for you too.
