SlumberPawty

Are you interested in adopting one of our adorable Waifs, but want to make sure they are just the right fit before making them a permanent member of your family? Wayside Waifs Slumber Paw-ty program could be the perfect answer.

Slumber Paw-ty Success Stories

Meet Ducky

Ducky was transferred to Wayside from a local shelter at three months old. She needed comprehensive medical and behavior care that only Wayside could provide because she’s blind and deaf. Ducky received medical care that all young animals need in order to live happy, healthy lives. She was spayed, received vaccinations, and also get a microchip. Then she went into a foster home where she received socialization for her development from the other dogs and the human foster parent in the home. In addition, Ducky’s foster mom provided her with dog training that gave her structure and consistency in her uncertain life.

Once ready for adoption, Wayside’s team new a Slumber Pawty was essential in making sure both Ducky and her future family would be comfortable before any adoption took place. Needless to say everyone was hopeful when Ducky went on a Slumber Pawty, especially considering the woman who took Ducky had worked with visually impaired children her entire career. And everyone’s wishes came true when Ducky was officially adopted into the home that would love her forever. She has just her mom, and the entire neighborhood, wrapped around her paw!

Meet Ron Stoppable

Ron Stoppable came to Wayside as a stray kitten at only six weeks old. He received medical care to help him grow strong and healthy. After about a month in Wayside’s care, he was adopted. Unfortunately, three years later, he was surrendered back to Wayside through no fault of his own. While in our care for the second time, we discovered he needed some behavior attention and medical care. Despite enjoying time with people, he seemed somewhat undersocialized so was unable to be handled much. And at 20 pounds, he was overweight so we helped get him nutrition that would allow him to lose weight and become healthy.

Thankfully a loving family came in, met Ron Stoppable and decided to take him Slumber Pawty. It was important that he fit into their family life well despite any challenges he had overcome. The family fell in love with this sweet boy and finalized the adoption one week later – the Slumber Pawty was a success! Now Ron Stoppable receives many belly rubs daily and enjoys sitting in front of the window where he can watch the squirrels.
