Hi there, I’m Martin!  I’m a sweet and adorable pup, just searching for a home and family that I can call my very own.  At just 6 months old, I’m still a puppy, so everyone tells me I should have been adopted quickly.  But it’s taking me longer than most dogs to find my forever family.  Perhaps that’s because I’m sort of quirky and different.  I march to the beat of my own drummer.  And I need a special family who will like that about me and who will love me for who I am.

I’m a handsome, 35 pound American Bulldog mix.  I was transferred to Wayside from a rural rescue group when I was only a few months old, so I feel like I’ve spent way too much of my young life in a shelter.  Once I got settled in at Wayside, people started noticing that I wasn’t acting like most puppies.  I kept to myself and my bow legs looked sort of silly when I walked.  And then people wondered if I might be hearing or seeing impaired.  Well, I might not be perfect, but the docs tell me that my health is just fine.  Sure, I might not be just like other dogs, but once we bond and I get comfortable and relaxed with you, I will make a wonderful companion!

I’d love a quiet and calm home where I can feel safe and cozy.  I hope you will be patient and understanding with me.  I got along just great with the cats in my foster home, so that’s fine with me if you have one of those!  And I enjoy doggie playgroups at Wayside, where it’s fun to watch me run and play.  If you have another dog, I’d love to meet them before we go home together, to make sure we’re a good match for each other.  And I will need a home without kids under the age of at least 5 and preferably 10.  I can be protective of my food, so I’ll need a safe and peaceful place to eat my meals, away from people and other animals.  It’s not a big deal, but kids don’t always understand how to give me my space.

Sometimes life can feel overwhelming.  You know you’re different and you’re not sure how to fit in.  It all came together for me though when my foster mom helped me to understand that it’s OK to be different and unique.  So instead of trying to be like all the other dogs, I’ve decided to just be me.  I’m a character.  And I’m silly and sweet and sometimes awkward and quirky.  But I’ll love you in my own way and I’ll accept you just the way you are, too.  I can’t wait to share my life with you and finally be home.

Hello there.  I’m Clyde.  I’m a handsome young cat and ready for my real home.  I’ve been staying in foster with my sister, Bonnie.  People say we’re “special needs,” but I’m not really sure what that means, so I’ll just tell you about myself.

I’m a lovely white kitty, and I have a special need to be with people but not on people.  There’s such a thing as too close, and anyway Bonnie always claims the lap first.  I’m happy to sit nearby, get petted, and hang out with everybody else.  I like to watch the goings on and just might get sucked into a series with you.  Some things on TV are hard to resist.  If you want to talk, I’m a good listener.  You can tell me anything, and I’ll keep it to myself.  Bonnie might try to give you unwanted advice.

I also have a special need to run and play, with Bonnie or you.  People smile when they see me run.  They say I look like a white bunny.  I don’t see it, but that’s what they say.  I also like to play with toys like string toys, mice, red dots, and tunnels.  The possibilities are endless!

Something kind of personal you might want to know is if I use the litterbox.  I do, and I have a special need to keep it neat and tidy.  I also use my scratch pad and pole.  I’m a good kitty and an easy kitty.  I would love to sleep in your bed at your feet at night.  Bonnie wants to sleep at your head and may ease you off your pillow.  I won’t cause any trouble like that.

One thing I have noticed is that the other cats in the foster home have straight front legs and tails, while Bonnie’s and mine are crooked.  Life on straight legs doesn’t seem any more difficult than life on twisted legs.  We all do what we need to do, so I can’t imagine there is anything special there.  I guess you could ask the vets about me if you want to know more.

Anyway, if you are looking for a good companion who could also double as a white bunny, I’m your guy!  Oh, and Bonnie comes with me as a bonus, in case you need a lap warmer.

Did you guys know that the name Davie has a Hebrew origin and means cherished and beloved? Yep. That’s me! All my friends at Wayside definitely would describe me as cherished and beloved, true to my namesake!

So, now that you know my name Davie let me tell you a bit more about myself. I’m a 3 year-old black lab mix that came from a hoarding situation in Texas. I can be timid sometimes, but I’m sure with trust, love and patience, I’ll be well on my way to being the most amazing companion I can be. I’m very food and toy motivated, and this will definitely help me and my new owner bond, and it will help me to learn ALL THE THINGS!

I love affection and attention. Once I warm up to you, I’m a very sweet and loveable guy, seriously, SO incredibly loveable! I definitely think I could be a snuggler extraordinaire. I’d also love to be your running, hiking, walking and outdoor adventure buddy. Exercise is much needed to keep my mind and body healthy! I have pretty good leash manners, and know with more practice they’ll be close to perfect.

There are a few things that I need in my new home to help me be amazing. Due to my timidness, it’d be best if I went to a home with children over the age of 5. Sometimes loud noises and new things are initimidating. Additionally, I need to be the only pet in your home, but I know that I have enough love and cuddles to give that you’ll be perfectly content with just me.
