Please welcome our Waifs of the Week: Alexa, Ellery, and Sherry!
“Hi there! Thanks so much for reading about me! My name is Alexa and I’m a sweet four-year-old gal looking for my forever home. I came to Wayside after I was found as a stray. Being out on my own sure was scary and I’m pretty happy to be somewhere warm and safe. Everyone here is so nice but I can’t help but dream of having my forever home. I can be a little timid when I first meet someone. I’m looking for a family who will give me the time and patience I need to sniff out a new situation. Because I’m a little shy I would do best in a home with kiddos over the age of five. I’m also looking for a family who will work with me on basic obedience training. Being a stray I haven’t had anyone around to help me learn things. I promise I’ll learn quickly! My friends around here tell me that I can be a little weary when I walk on a leash. As I gain confidence I promise I’ll work on being your best walking pal! If you’re looking for a sweet pal to go through life with, look no further! I sure can’t wait to meet you!”

“Hey guys! Thanks for reading about me! My name is Ellery and I’m a 2-year-old gal. I currently reside at Wayside Waifs, but would love to go to a more permanent home. On the feline-ality chart, I’m considered to be a Sidekick. This means I’m great company to keep. Although at first I can be scared and timid, so it will take some time warming up to you. You should know that I need to go to a home where it’s dog free and no kids under the age of 7. This is just precautionary, as I would like to avoid any and all accidents. I would prefer going to a home that is considerably quiet. So, if you’re looking for a cuddly cat to take on the journey of life with, then come to Wayside Waifs and ask to meet with me today!”

“Hi everyone! My name is Sherry and I’m so excited you’re reading about me! I’m a beautiful one-year-old girl. I’ve been told my sleek coat is very form-fitting and flattering! I came to Wayside Waifs as a stray awhile back, and last month I came back as a stray once again from Grandview. The lovely animal control officer picked me up and dropped me off here, for shelter. I know my story seems sad, but I’m extremely grateful to the staff and volunteers here! I am ready to find my forever home though, and hopefully it’s you! One thing you should know about me is that I’m high energy. I’d benefit from an active home, where I will get regular exercise, walks, and mental stimulation. It is recommended I go to a home without children under the age of five, just because of my size, strength, and energy level. I already know the command ‘sit,’ but I’m ready to learn more! I enjoy food and toys, so presenting me with yummy treats or a toy will help me enjoy basic obedience training. I enjoy exploring my environment, and checking everything out. I can be playful, and have a tendency to be jumpy and mouthy. I will benefit from impulse control training! We’re still working on my leash skills, as I tend to pull hard. Right now, I’m using a harness and a slip lead, but I’m working hard to ensure I just need a harness! I need a confident owner for a confident girl like me! I do enjoy meeting new people, and giving kisses and hugs. I’ve met a few dogs here at Wayside, and they seem fun! I have a rough play style, and some dogs may not appreciate how I interact with them. We recommend you bring in your dogs to meet me, so we can make sure we can play together! Hopefully I sound like the one for you! I’m energetic, but if you like to run, I’d be a great partner for you. Come visit me at Wayside Waifs. I’ll be waiting!”
