Happy Waif Wednesday! We’d like to introduce you to our fabulous Waifs of the Week: Buck, Gio, and Sandstorm. These three handsome fellas are so ready to find their forever families!
Hello humans! I’m a 3-year-old boy named Buck, and I’m on the lookout for a new family! First of all, how can you resist my face?! Am I not the cutest, happiest thing you’ve ever seen? And I’ve got the sweetest and friendliest personality to match. I’m a playful guy and would love to find a home that would like to teach me all kinds of fun games to play together. I’ve never had any training before, but I’m super smart and pick up on new things really fast.
I’m curious about the world around me and love to explore and sniff out new situations. I enjoy going on walks on my leash, too. At times I might start out just a little bit hesitant and may lean on your leg for some extra confidence. But it just takes me a minute to warm up, and then I’m ready to roll!

Hello there! My name is Gio, and I’m a handsome black house panther with stunning golden eyes and a beautiful, glossy coat. I was found as a stray. I was pretty shy and scared when I first came to Wayside. But lucky for me, Wayside has a program called TABBY where staff and volunteers help timid cats like me become more comfortable around people. You know what? I love being around people! If you pet me, I will reward you with some velvety headbutts to your hand. It’s like I am petting you! I also love to just roll around while you talk to me. It helps me concentrate on what you are saying. Even better, I would love to snuggle up on your lap while we are conversing. It turns out I am quite the lap cat!
When I had my Felineality assessment here at Wayside, they told me I am an Executive. That means I am moderately brave in new situations, and I enjoy spending time with people. However, I am not clingy, and I can entertain myself should the need arise.

Hi there, I’m Sandstorm! I want to be your dog. How does that sound? I’m such a nice boy. I’m a perfect combination of active and playful yet sweet and affectionate. I’m a handsome, 3-year-old boy, and I came to Wayside as a transfer from another shelter that was running short on space. Now I just need to find you, and then I’ll be set.
I’m a curious guy, so I like to explore and check out every inch of my surroundings. I’m friendly and I love getting attention from you. I can’t wait to sit with you and listen to you tell me about your day as you pet me. I’m relaxed on my leash, so I’d love to go for daily walks with you. I’m an athletic dog and I will need regular exercise to keep me happy, healthy, and calm.
I already know how to sit, and I’d love to learn more cool stuff, so please teach me! I’ll make an excellent student. I like toys, especially tennis balls. I’ve recently been learning doggie social skills. I’m figuring out how to play together and communicate. I find I prefer laidback dogs like myself. You can feel free to bring your other dog out to meet me, if you like, to make sure we’re a good fit for each other. Just please stay patient with me and give me a little time to settle in and figure out my new routine with you.
