Please welcome our Waifs of the Week: Mac, Marvin, and Truman!
“Hi, I’m Mac! I’m a handsome, shepherd mix who’s looking for a place to call my own. I was brought to Wayside when my last rescue ran out of space for me. It’s okay though! I’m making lots of friends while I wait for my family to find me. I can’t wait to get home and be with my people! I’m a sweet and affectionate guy who loves people. I’d love to meet the whole family, including children and other furry friends, when you come say hi! I’m very social and love to play or go on walks for exercise. I also love to learn new things and keep my brain sharp! I’ll learn the ropes in no time especially when you motivate me with yummy treats, fun toys, or praise! I’m an awesome dude who will make the best companion. I hope you’ll come by soon so I can show you! Hope to see you soon!”

“Thanks for reading about me! I’m Marvin, a great big cuddly orange tabby boy. I was adopted from Wayside when I was a kitten but, sadly, my family had a change in lifestyle and are moving and can’t take me along. So here I am, back at Wayside, thankful for my second chance to find a wonderful person or people to call my very own. What would you like to know about me? I’m a very laid-back, chill kind of cat. I enjoy attention and especially love it when people just talk to me. In my previous home I lived with children and dogs and got along well with everyone. So, if you have a nice dog or kids who need feline friend, I just might be your guy. I’m dreaming of starting off 2018 with a wonderful new person or people? Think it could be you?”

“Hello there! I’m Truman and I’ve got quite a story to tell! To start off, I developed complete cataracts at an early age and went completely blind. They aren’t painful to me and I’ve adjusted very well. At about this time I found myself at Wayside. I was there for a few weeks but was adopted and lived with a family for eight years. I was mostly an outdoor dog, but figured I was lucky to have a home. Then recently, trouble struck. My owner could no longer afford to keep me so she surrendered me to another shelter here in Kansas City. They knew I was originally from Wayside so I was transferred here. Somewhere in this process I hurt my leg pretty bad and when I arrived at Wayside, they decided the best thing for me was to amputate. I know this seems like a lot for a dog to go through but I’m resilient and happy-go-lucky. I was up and walking on three legs in no time and I get along quite well, if I do say so myself! They even use me as a training dog for new volunteers because I’m so easy to walk. You just need to help me maneuver in a new place so that I don’t bump into things—at least until I get to know my surroundings. I weigh about 36 pounds, so I’m a great medium size and I’m super affectionate with people. Just let me know you’re coming by calling my name and I’m all smiles and wags. Because other dogs don’t understand that I’m blind, they come up to me too quickly and unpredictably for my liking. This makes me nervous and a little cranky so I need a home without other dogs. I know I can withstand a lot and I’m doing ok here at Wayside, but I really just want to settle down and live with a family who I can adore and adores me back until my forever time. Can I be your dog?”
