Please welcome our Waifs of the Week: Brad, Romy, and Sheba!

Hi there everybody. My name’s Brad, and I am a handsome one-year-old boy! I originally came to Wayside Waifs as a stray, as a nice Good Samaritan rescued me from the streets! I’m extremely thankful to be here, because I’ve been able to hang out with people who have helped me progress in so many ways. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. After arriving at the shelter, the staff and volunteers noticed I was active, strong, and affectionate, but I was also rather excitable. I was put on Peace Academy to work on my behavior, and I have to say I’ve improved! I know the commands sit, come, stay/wait, shake, and down! I’d love to learn more with you, and I enjoy treats, toys, and attention. I use to be wary of strangers, but I’m learning that I can trust the people here, because they want to see me thrive! Because of my jumpy, and mouthy behavior, we do ask that I go to a home without children under the age of ten. I just don’t want to accidentally hurt anyone! I’m a smart, energetic guy who is looking for an active home where I can get regular exercise, training, and mental stimulation. I’ve met a few dogs here, and they seem okay, but we do ask that you bring in your dogs to meet me so we can make sure we are a good pair. I’ve been known to pull on a leash, but I enjoy walking and being with you and exploring! Thank you so much for reading about me. I truly believe I’ve made great strides while spending my time here. I’m ready to find that perfect home for me, and I hope it’s with you! Please ask for Brad when visiting Wayside, and you won’t be disappointed.”

“Hi! It’s nice to meet you! My name is Romy and I’m a five-year-old kitty with gorgeous brown and white fur. I came to Wayside from another shelter when they ran out of space. It’s okay though! Everyone here is so nice and I know it won’t be long until I find a family to love forever and ever. I think five is the perfect age. I’m independent enough that I can do my own thing but I’m also playful and affectionate. Toy mice are my favorite! I could chase one of those around for hours. Around here they call me an Executive. I’m a pretty important cat and I stay busy. Once we get home I’ll inspect everything to make sure it’s in tip-top shape. After I check things out I’ll probably take a little snooze. (Hey! Keeping the house in order is a tough job!) Don’t worry, I’ll always make time to cuddle up with you. If you’re looking for a best friend to go through life with, look no further! I might just be the cat for you! Come to Wayside and ask to meet me!”

Welcome, and thanks for stopping to read about me!  My name is Sheba, and I’m seven years old.  I don’t mean to brag, but I’m a “looker” with a big heart and a soulful face, as you can see from my picture.  Lots of people search for puppies and don’t know how wonderful us more mature dogs can be.  I have a lot of love and life left and would be honored to share it with you.  Well, let me tell you all about me…  I’m comfortable and confident with people and enjoy their attention. When I was transferred to Wayside from another shelter, I was pretty sad and anxious.  The good people here have helped me feel calmer and loved, and I’m really looking forward to finding my new forever family. If you’re looking for a big, sweet, spunky girl, that would be me!  I’m bouncy and playful, have plenty of energy and love my walks.  I can pull hard on my leash when I’m excited or see another dog, but I’ll settle down and be a good walking buddy after a bit.  It would be wonderful if you’re willing to help me learn better leash skills and some basic obedience skills.  I already know the sit command, and since I’m motivated by yummy treats, I’m sure I can learn more cool skills if you take the time to teach me.  I’d love to make you proud! When it comes to other dogs, let’s just say I have a strong personality.  I can be bossy and over-bearing with some dogs, and playful and friendly to others.  If you have other dogs in the home I’ll need to meet them when you come to see me.  Speaking of visiting me, I sure hope you’ll come soon.  It could be that we’re the perfect match, so why waste any more time?  Let’s get this party started!”
