Please welcome our Waifs of the Week: Luke, Sunny Oak, and Brutus!

“Hi there, I’m Luke!  I’m a sweet and curious guy and I’d love to be your dog.  It’s really all I’ve ever wanted and I promise I’ll try my best to be the best dog you’ve ever had, if you’ll just give me a chance. I’m a handsome and soft, 3 ½ year old, 54 pound sweetheart.  And I’m already housebroken, although please be patient when we first get home, since I’ve been living in a shelter for a while and it’s hard to stay in a routine here.  I was transferred to Wayside from Clinton, MO when they were short on space.  I’ve settled in quickly here and I’m busy making lots of new friends.  I can be a little shy and timid when I first meet new people, but once I get comfortable with you, I’m an affectionate, friendly, fun dog who loves to be by your side. I’m playful and happy and I love to go for walks.  I’m also an excellent running partner and I’ve joined the Wayside Runners Group, which I love.  I hope to get daily exercise in my new home and I’d love a fenced in yard too.  I like to sniff and explore my surroundings and check everything out.  Sometimes I get so excited for my walks that I pull a little on my leash.  You can always use a harness for me so that I stay close to your side.  Once I’m comfortable in my environment, I like to play with toys.  I know all sorts of commands, including Sit, Come, Shake, and Slow, which is used when I pull on my leash.  I can’t wait to show you how smart I am! I might be happiest without kids under the age of 5 or so, since I can be timid at first.  I did well with older kids, ages 9 to teenager, in a previous home.  If you want, feel free to bring the whole family to meet me and we can make sure we’re all a good fit for one another.  I’m generally polite and friendly with other dogs.  But I do need a home without cats, please.  I hope you think I might be the perfect match for your family!  I’m so ready to settle down and just be part of a family.  I can’t wait!”

“Welllll, hello there! My name is Sunny Oak and I am a GORGEOUS, fluffy, cuddly tuxedo cat. Let me tell you all about myself so that you can get to know me! I was originally adopted from Wayside when I was a cute and tiny kitten. Then, life happened and I found myself back at Wayside. I was  a little stressed at the shelter, and than my foster mom came and brought me home! I have been the puuuuurrrrfect houseguest (get it!?!?!). I’m incredibly calm, snuggly and a great companion. I LOVE to cuddle. Like, seriously LOVE. TO. CUDDLE. I’ll crawl right into your lap while your reading or watching a movie. Being pet under my chin is another one of my favorite things! I even really like to rest my head on your hand so that you have optimal chin scratching opportunities. I have an incredibly beautiful, super soft black and white coat, so, not to boast, but I’m pretty great to pet. I also love to play with wand toys! They’re my favorite! Although, I think I might like cuddling a little more. Seeking out sunny spots in the house and lounging in the sun or the window is something else I really enjoy. I really like to watch the birds and squirrels from the window! I live with a dog in my foster home and while I wouldn’t exactly say I’m eager to be her BFF, I happily coexist with her and sometimes you can even catch us looking out the window together. So, what do you say? Need an easy going feline fluff ball in your life? If so, I’m definitely your girl!”

“Thanks so much for reading about me! My name is Brutus and I’m a sweet two-year-old guy with beautiful black fur. I came to Wayside after my last shelter ran out of space. Being the new pup in town is a little scary but everyone here is so nice and they tell me it won’t be long until I find my forever home. I can be a little scared and timid in new situations. I would do best in a home with kiddos over the age of five. I’m hoping to find a family who will be patient and understanding as I gain confidence. After I’ve become comfortable with my surroundings we can work on basic obedience training. I don’t know any tricks or commands yet but I’d love to learn. I do request that I meet any kiddos or canines before going home. I just want to make sure we’re all a good fit for each other. If you’re looking for a sweet, low-key fella to go through life with, look no further! Come to Wayside and ask to meet me!”
