Please welcome our Waifs of the Week: Henry Brown, Alana, and Dayton!

“I’m Henry Brown. I made my way to Wayside all the way from Louisiana. Some wonderful folks brought me here when things got crowded in the shelter where I found myself down south. So now that I’m here I’d like to tell you about what a fun pal I am. Are you a hound lover? Well, if you are, you’ll love me! I’m so typical of the breed. I follow my nose. I talk a lot. And I’m smart and driven. I weigh about 67 pounds and my ears are so big they are measured in acreage! I’m pretty easy to handle on a leash. I’m fascinated by cars. I like to watch them drive by. I’m just a good boy lookin’ to find my place up north here. Can I be your faithful, loving dog?”

“Pleased to meet you! My name is Alana. What’s yours? I am a beautiful, sweet, shorthaired dark tortoiseshell girl with large, expressive golden eyes. I am sort of front-declawed, in that I just have just one claw left. I’m a talkative girl with a very cute little meow. I came to Wayside from another shelter that was low on space. Moving around can be scary, but I am so happy to be here at Wayside, where I will meet lots of new people and find the forever ones for me! At 8 years of age, I am right in my prime, well past the silly kitten stuff and ready to be a sweet, steady, loyal companion. When I had my Felineality test here at Wayside, they told me I am a Sidekick. That means I tend to be moderately brave in new situations, and my goal in life is to stick by the side of my favorite person or people, listening to their stories, laughing at their jokes, and making them feel loved. I would love to do that for you!”

“Hi there, I’m Dayton!  I’m just a sweet and low-key fella and I want so much to be your dog.  I’ll make a terrific friend for you, I promise.  I’ll be the perfect exercise partner when you feel like getting in shape and I’ll happily sit quietly by your side if you just want to chill out.  I’m a loyal companion and I can’t wait to show you what a good dog I am. I’m a handsome, 2 ½ year old, 66 pound bundle of muscle and love.  And I think I might be already at least kennel trained, because I keep my area at Wayside very clean and I know to go to the bathroom as soon as I get outside.  I came here to Wayside as a transfer from the KC Pet Project.  I don’t mind moving around some though if it helps me find my forever family.  I’m patiently waiting for you, because I understand that this is just a temporary stop on my journey.  I know you’ll find me soon. I’m calm and mostly relaxed and such a sweetheart.  I love to go for walks and I am an expert on my leash, never pulling.  I’m just happy and proud to be outside with you enjoying the fresh air and I don’t even react when I see other dogs out walking.  I’ve also recently joined the Wayside Runners Group.  I’m an excellent running partner and I keep a nice pace and focus when I run.  I’m also affectionate and social and I love people.  I’m curious and I like to explore.  The perfect day for me will include a little exercise and a little cuddle time and as much time spent with you as possible.  I love my treats and I’m eager to make you happy, so training me will be a cinch.  I already know Sit, but I’d love to learn more, so please teach me! I’m not a crazy playful sort of pup, but I do get along with other dogs just fine and I enjoy their company.  I’ve been able to participate in doggie playgroups during my time at Wayside and I do really well interacting with my dog friends.  Even when paired with a dog that’s more playful than I am, I’m tolerant and I know how to communicate appropriately.  I stay relaxed and mellow.  I’d be happy to meet the whole family before we go home together, to make sure we’re all a good match for each other, if you’d like. I’m looking so forward to the day that you choose me to be a member of your family.  I’m picturing us proudly walking out to your car.  And then there will be the introductions to all the neighbors and our first walk in my new neighborhood.  That’s what I dream of.  I hope it happens soon.”
