An Interview With Candy Brown
In many aspects of shelter operation, we would not be where we are without our volunteers. Our staff members are very thankful for the active roles our volunteers take in caring for the animals in the shelter. I thought it would be nice to showcase one in particular and what they do here that better improves the mission we all have; save as many lives as we can!
Waif Wednesday
Our thoughts are with everyone who is going through the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, and the current Hurricane Irma. Please be safe! With that being said, it is time for our weekly Waifs of the Week.
Pet Memorial Day
September 10th marks National Pet Memorial Day, a day in which people honor their pets, both past and present. It is a national holiday, and people gather or contemplate how their animal or animals have changed their lives, and share their stories. In honor of the holiday, we decided to showcase our Pet Memorial Cemetery, and what all they do. Lottie: Happy Tails
Being employed with Wayside Waifs is a very rewarding experience, and volunteers have the same feeling. Sometimes you get those special cases with cats or dogs and you cannot help but root for them. Lottie is one of those cases. Pictured above is the day Lottie came in, with a staff member holding her for a picture and then receiving her shots.
Waif Wednesday
It’s time to meet our Waifs of the Week: Marcus, Caz, and Merida!
Falling for Fall
In less than a month, it will be Fall! Everyone looks forward to cooler weather, pretty scenery, and themed drinks. Our animals can enjoy the season as well, but there are certain things to know. The following are tips on how to prepare for the season, which this year, is September 22 2017-December 21 2017.
Waif Wednesday
Our thoughts are with the victims of Hurricane Harvey, both humans and animals! With that being said, please welcome our Waifs of the Week; Ying Yang, Carter, and Shelby!
Top Dog Classic With Drew Butera
This past Sunday was our Top Dog Classic with Drew Butera, one of the best back-up catchers in Major League Baseball. Drew has always had a passion for animals, so he wanted to partner with Top Golf and Wayside Waifs to create a fun charity opportunity. What stood out was people would purchase a ticket and be assigned a local celebrity, and it could’ve been a present or past player. The night was filled with fun, good conversation, and it all went towards a good cause.
Waif Wednesday
Better weather is upon us! To make up for the torrential downpour, please welcome our Waifs of the Week: Dahlia, Simba, and Charlie!
Buster and Nugget: Long-Term Residents
It’s that time again for a monthly segment of our long-term residents. A long-term resident is someone who has been here at least thirty days or longer, and I try to narrow it down to some who have been here even longer. Last month we featured Dutch, and I have some good news. Dutch has found his forever home this past weekend. He’ll have his best friend Stew with him, and they have two acres to play on! Without further ado, please welcome August’s long-termers; Buster and Nugget!
